Three Gateshead Schools in Shipley Show

Thomas Hepburn, South Street and Caedmon Schools worked with artists Carolyn Handley, Donna MacKinnon and Sharon Wilson to produce Image & Identity, currently on display at the Shipley Art Gallery on Prince Consort Road in Gateshead. Tyne & Wear Museum's collection and the children's own ideas were the inspiration for the masks, jewellery and costumes, curated by Clare Smith and Sharon Wilson. Opened by the Deputy Mayor of Gateshead and Maggie Atkinson, Head of Children's Services for Gateshead Council, a selection of the exhibition will be shown at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London later in the year.
