Transcription and talking publications from Gateshead Council AIRS team
For information in large print, Braille, audio cassette, CD or British Sign Language video, contact the Council's AIRS service.
There are well over 2500 residents in Gateshead who cannot read standard print. We are part of Cultural Services within the Community Based Services group and offer:
Professional transcription services - all kinds of printed information transcribed, such as Council News and service letters, plans and leaflets. Material delivered direct to clients on your behalf.
Translation into British Sign Language on video and DVD - we can also subtitle and edit existing videos.
Tactile maps - new service enabling visually impaired people to feel the detail on floor and site plans and office layouts. Competitive rates and professional quality binding and presentation from a nationally recognised service - AIRS won RNIB's Accessible Information Award in 2004. Free four-times weekly AIRS talking newspaper and audio magazine service for Gateshead residents - publicise your services and events to hard to reach people.
Help and advice about making your services and information more accessible for visually impaired and Deaf clients and staff.
