ExploreMusic is a free music information and library service run by Gateshead Council and located at The Sage Gateshead. The idea came about 20 years ago during the conception of The Sage Gateshead when it was identified that there was a real demand for local information on music across the North East and Cumbria as well as facilities for people passionate about music, musicians themselves, or even those who don't know anything about music to learn more at their leisure.

The region's biggest online 'What's on' listings for music in partnership with the Informer Magazine with over 1,000 listings per month.
All of the latest local music news, discussion fora, and live web chats with artists.
Advice on how to download music.
Advice on where to find local information on anything from funding and careers, to bands for hire and bands who are hiring.
Access to specialist subscription based music websites including Grove Music Online and Naxos and Classical Music Audio Libraries.
FARNE Folk Archive Resource North East, the amazing online archive of local traditional music with digitised copies of manuscripts, sound files, broadsheets and more, is now looked after by the ExploreMusic team where it has been brought to life as the region's hub of local folk information with all of the latest on folk festivals, gigs, workshops, and news.
Coming soon - an e-newsletter which people can describe to for all of the latest additions to our website.

ExploreMusic is now THE place to go in the region to find out anything you need to about any aspect of music or what's happening locally with music. We would encourage you to send members of the public to us or or website with their enquiries, or to make use of our website yourselves, and also spread the word about our services which I'm sure you'll agree are truly fantastic - even more so because its all free!
When you are in contact with music organisations who are trying to promote their events or services, make sure they've sent us their information as we are here to support what's happening right across the region in what ever way we can through news items, display of leaflets and inclusion in our many listings.
