“There once was a girl no bigger than a thumb. This tiny girl was born inside a beautiful flower and they called her Thumbelina…
This is a brand-new adaptation by Susan Mulholland of the Hans Christian Andersen tale. Directed by Annie Rigby (The Golden Bird, How the Sea Came to Be), and designed by Andrew Stephenson, this team have developed outstanding expertise in producing work for young children, though their work in schools and nurseries throughout the region. Thumbelina is a beautiful story full of music and fun, which reminds us that we shouldn’t want to grow up too quickly.

The Little Prince marks the return of Northern Stage’s amazing Christmas productions, which have delighted school audiences throughout the North East for many years. Neil Murray, who directed and designed the splendid Grimm Tales, The Snow Queen, Beauty and the Beast and many other Northern Stage Christmas shows, has created a magical production ideal for children in years 4 to 10. The show will also appeal to older students of French, who have the unique opportunity to see this famous text by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry brought to life on stage.
