On Tuesday 19 join join novelists Kitty Fitzgerald and John Murray as they read from their recent novels and talk about their experiences on the path to publication.
Described by Jonathan Coe as “one of the best comic writers we’ve got�, Cumbria-based John Murray is the author of seven critically acclaimed novels including John Dory, Jazz Etc. and most recently A Gentleman¹s Relish (Flambard) which was published in June 2006.
Kitty Fitzgerald was born in Ireland and raised in Yorkshire. She has written drama for the BBC, for the theatre and for film, as well as fiction and poetry. Her most recent and breakthrough novel Pigtopia (Faber & Faber) won second place in the US Barnes & Noble's 2005 Discover Awards for new fiction.

With agent Broo Doherty, publishers Maria Rejt (Macmillan) and Emma Hargrave (Tindal St Press) along with The Literary Consultancy team, who will debate what is going on in the literary marketplace today. Is the publishing industry as London-centric as many claim? Is the kind of work getting published increasingly predictable? Are small presses making a comeback? With opportunities to question the panel and learn useful tips for pitching your novel.
Literaturetraining will be on hand during the day, manning an information point for professional development with reference publications, writers' magazines, training information etc and offering half hour one-to-one information and advice sessions, bookable on the day.
